Tsjaz in Minneapolis (consumer of popular culture) tries to be of service to others, posting with reasonable regularity, although to be honest, he'd prefer laying on the couch and sleeping to describing the excruciating minutiae of his life to you.

N.C.
I had a good visit to North Carolina. We did the usual Huntersville things like Brixx, the singing bears, Regal Cinema (Harry Potter), Fox and Hound, and burritos (I got Salsarita's at the airport). The kids were really fun. We went to the Ren Fest and saw the Ren Fest version of professional wrestling--the jousting tournament opening round.
The Carolina festival is comparable to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. The N.C. state fair is significantly smaller than Minnesota's, but the Carolina Ren Fest is almost as big. It's the same feel with some of the same attractions (vegetable justice, Tortuga Twins, but no Puke and Snot). It was nice to go since the river stymied my attempt to visit the Minnesota fair.
It was not a good weekend to be a Carolina fan. Friday night I was with the local Carolina Club to watch Minnesota beat UNC. I kept saying "there's no way the Gophers win this game because they're the Gophers," but then they won. Then they blew a 10 point halftime lead to Virginia. Anyway. We got to Chapel Hill early Saturday to see if the football team could fare better against NC State. Alas, no. I also got destroyed in Bags/Cornhole before the game because I just think I'm a mediocre athlete with the coordination bit.
Speaking of athletics, the running has slowed with the wintry weather of late. And I can't find the shoes I want for sale in my size. I did finish the book "Born to Run" which is motivating and reinforces my drive to run an ultra. You have to run to do that, though.
